Principal's message

Hello to everyone!

Thank you for visiting our new website!

I am honored and pleased to be the first principal of our new public junior/senior high school in Edmonton, École Michaëlle-Jean. Our school offers French as a first language education to grades 7-12.

Our team of dedicated teachers, teachers’ assistants and specialists is dynamic and professional. Their work is based on building strong relationships with students and fostering open and positive communication with their parents.

Our focus is equal access to education. To succeed, we offer programs and services developed to meet the educational needs of our students: ESL, francization, literacy, career counselling, mental health program Projet Espoir and homework programs.

Our school will continue to stand out on different levels, in overall satisfactory scholastic standard and sport performance with our Phénix. The students can be involved in a series of curricular and extracurricular activities including: school council, integration activities at the beginning of the school year, international trips, ski trips in the Rockies, sports teams (basketball, soccer, curling, badminton, track and field, skating, swimming and much more), Génies en herbe, sports day, art, theatre, thematic days, talent concerts and choir.

Our location in the former St. Kevin junior high school is well suited to provide a great learning experience to our secondary students: library, computer lab, cafeteria, art spaces (visual arts and theatre), music room, home economics room, carpentry room, student’s lounge, gym, hairstyling room, exterior soccer and basketball fields and sciences lab.

School bus transportation is provided to all students living within the school bus zone.

You can expect to find a welcoming and a multicultural atmosphere within our walls, where respect of itself, each other and of the school premises as well as responsibility, school success and academic excellence are part of who we are. École Michaëlle-Jean is a school where we share positively our values and our different cultures.
